Dr. Stafford follows the recommendation by the American Association of Orthodontists that children see an orthodontist beginning at age seven. An early assessment may help to prevent potential complications later by addressing crowding, bite issues, potential growth concerns, and thumb sucking habits. Dr. Stafford can determine if early intervention is helpful or truly necessary during your child’s assessment at our Pleasanton orthodontic office.
Phase One and Phase Two Treatment
Early treatment is often referred to as Phase One. It is generally done between the ages of seven and ten years old and is typically limited in scope to address specific growth issues. Phase One treatment is completed with the expectation of Phase Two treatment to follow.
Phase Two is generally done between the ages of 12 to 16 and is comprehensive in scope, often using traditional braces or clear aligners when possible. The end goal is great aesthetics and great function.
Dr. Stafford and our team are known for being friendly, encouraging, and motivating, especially when it comes to our younger patients.
